Or maybe we could… drop by Tomaszów for a day? (to quote Julian Tuwim, a famous Polish poet). We did, and it was like a reassumption of the work of creation: we heard, and it was delicious music-making! Everything was seemingly the same as always, but the thread of understanding that had connected our Titans (Urbaniak and Karolak) many years before was simply inimitable. Of course the younger generation – Wojtasik, Niedziela and Parker – adjusted accordingly. There is no pressure felt in this music, they are simply carried by the fantastic inspiration that comes from a love of music and playing like a virtuoso. And please, don’t say (or write) that this is another instalment in the history of Polish Jazz, because they have long discarded the corset of this category and have long enjoyed a place on the World Jazz shelf, while the magnificent Love Polish Jazz Festival, thanks also to their playing, has advanced to the rank of a POLISH OPEN.
