Najnowszy, dwupłytowy solowy album Mateusza Kowalskiego, znakomitego gambisty związanego m.in. z takimi zespołami jak Floripari, Ars Cantus, Consortium Sedinum, Camerata Cracovia, Ensemble Barocum, gambowym triem Gambasada, Perfugium, Brevis Consort oraz Le Nuove Musiche. Od 2013 jest asystentem w klasie violi da gamba krakowskiej Akademii Muzycznej im. Krzysztofa Pendereckiego. 

Antologia Lyra Viol to czterdzieści sześć kompozycji pochodzących z dwudziestu czterech zbiorów - zarówno druków, jak i manuskryptów. Najznamienitsi kompozytorzy XVII -wiecznej  Anglii - m.in. A. Ferrabosco II, J. Jenkins, Ch. Coleman, W. Young. Trzydzieści różnych strojów. To blisko sto minut muzyki przybliżającej wielką zapomnianą tradycję muzyczną lyra viol.

Antologia jest zarazem wspomnieniem dwóch szczególnych dla polskiego nurtu muzyki dawnej osób, które powołały do istnienia instrument, na którym nagrany został ten album. Kopię angielskiej violi autorstwa Henry’ego Smitha z 1637 r., zamówił i grał na niej Maciej Kaziński - wszechstronny muzyk, kompozytor, tłumacz, wieloletni dyrektor festiwalu Pieśń Naszych Korzeni w Jarosławiu. Instrument wykonał w 2013 roku gdański lutnik Jacek Wesołowski,  znany specjalista w dziedzinie budowania dawnych instrumentów smyczkowych. Obu tych artystów nie ma już z nami... Pozostała jednak viola, dzięki której pamięć o Nich może trwać.
